Quintum Technologies Counted Among Top Finalists for the 2008 Microsoft Partner of the Year Award in OEM Hardware Solutions, Device Manufacturing

Quintum Technologies has been selected as a finalist for the Microsoft Partner of the Year award in OEM Hardware Solutions, Device Manufacturing. Quintum has worked closely with Microsoft as they continue to roll out their unified communications solutions to their customers with the Tenor product line to address the needs of customers integrating Microsoft Unified Communications into their networks.

Quintum Enables Solution Provider to Execute Uniquely Effective “Land and Expand” Managed VoIP Services Strategy

Quintum is implementing an innovative and highly effective “land and expand” strategy for Irish solutions provider TIPS, that makes it easy for customers to decide what portion of their voice traffic they want to re-route over the TIPS network. TIPS installs a Quintum switch on the customer’s premises at no cost and lets the customer decide what portion of their voice traffic they want to re-route over the TIPS network. They can also disengage with TIPS altogether if they ever want to, or they can use TIPS exclusively. The customer is always in control and always has zero risk.

Italian Integrator Deploys Quintum Tenor Switches to Support Microsoft OCS with VoIP

IDC, an Italian integrator and Microsoft Certified Partner, has selected Quintum’s Tenor BX switch to support its Microsoft OCS environment with VoIP connectivity. IDC had previously installed another vendor’s certified gateway to implement VoIP. However, IDC encountered a variety of problems with that gateway – including failures connecting to the toll-free numbers of discount long distance providers. Quintum’s superior ability to handle the pre-connection messaging of these providers eliminated this problem.

PortaSwitch Maintenance Release 17

The MR17 Installation Guides for PortaBilling, PortaSIP and PortaUM are now available on the Documentation Page. The documents provide a full step-by-step explanation of the installation process for PortaSIP and PortaUM.

PortaBilling100 Gets a Performance Boost with a New Dedicated 64-bit Database Server

The recent development in PortaBilling100 architecture now enables performance savvy customers to have their database on a dedicated server. This distributed architecture employs the capacity of a dedicated server to run resource intensive tasks such as statistics queries and web interface requests and operations.

All database functions can now run on a separate server, which uses 64-bit FreeBSD version 7.0, allowing the use of more than 4GB of RAM in the server. This extra memory, used by MySQL for caching, drastically reduces the execution time for SQL queries to greatly enhance the call processing capacity of your PortaBilling100 Master server where the improvement for some complex systems and sophisticated businesses can be up to 200%.

PortaBilling

Adaptive Routing
A fully automated adaptive routing model for controlling quality of service without the need for any manual activity i.e. through human operators. The main idea of adaptive routing is to dynamically measure a vendor’s quality parameters, and adjust the routing priority accordingly.

PortaSwitch

Presence Services
PortaSIP has taken the first step towards displaying information about the availability of SIP user agents in real time, based on the SIP protocol. The SIP-based protocol supports any form of real-time communication, regardless of whether the content is voice, video, or instant messaging. It also contains presence location information, in the form of registrations. Now PortaSIP delivers presence, a service that allows users to keep others informed of their status, availability, and how they may be contacted – all before a communication session even begins.

PortaUM

Call Forward Management
The IVR application has been enhanced by self-care account administration, including call forward management by end-users. Following a voice prompt, customers can select the required forwarding mode and specify a call forward phone number.

cclogo Direct Incoming Calls to B2BUA increases performance - PortaSwitch MR15 and later

As you know, the two major components of PortaSIP are proxy/registrar and B2BUA. While B2BUA controls the actual call flow and exchange of SIP messages related to a particular call – all messages still pass via the proxy. It is the proxy that deals with Nat Traversal.

If a call arrives from a remote gateway or IP PBX running on a public IP address – NAT traversal is not required and there is no need to engage the SIP proxy in the SIP messages exchange.

PortaSIP Maintenance Release 15 allows B2BUA to accept direct incoming connection from a remote SIP UA on a public IP address.

This is ideal for SIP trunking and similar services. This improvement accounts for over 20% increase in the call processing time No special configuration on the PortaSIP side is required but you should specify port 5061 of your PortaSIP server on your gateway/IP PBX outgoing SIP proxy with the IP address.
