cclogo Interview with a convicted hacker: Robert Moore tells how he broke into routers and stole VoIP services

"If they were just monitoring their boxes and keeping logs, they could easily have seen us logged in there," he said, adding that IT could have run its own scans, checking to see logged-in users. "If they had an intrusion detection system set up, they could have easily seen that these weren't their calls."

cclogo Porta Web based re-rating functionality - MR16

xDR Re-rating is a lightweight and easy-to-use alternative to re-feed designed to fix the most common problem: incorrect pricing information entered into a tariff. It is operated completely from the PortaBilling web interface. The administrator specifies the “original” (incorrect) tariff and the correct tariff, and narrows the set of xDRs to be processed by time interval and specific customer.

Technical Information

cclogo PortaBilling External System Interfaces Guide Is Updated to MR15.

Porta published an updated version of the PortaBilling External System Interfaces Guide. Radius Interface and XML APIs. This document is now compliant with MR15 and provides information for developers who want to interface their applications and systems with PortaBilling100.

Please contact support@commsconnect.com.au for a copy.

cclogo PortaUM and/or PortaSIP is not part of SMP licensing, however, they would benefit from more powerful CPUs (such as Quad Xeons and more RAM).

The PortaBilling100 SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) offer is similar to the basic version of PortaBilling100, notably extended to benefit from the additional processing power of the core billing server. This provides an almost linear increase of performance per each processor in the system. This product is primarily recommended for ITSPs whose monthly traffic load exceeds 20 million minutes.

You are also allowed run PortaSIP or PortaUM on a multiple CPU machine, but in this case there may be no clear performance benefits - this is why PortaOne do not provide a separate licensing (SMP) for this. In case of PortaUM on a multi-CPU machine there probably will be increase in the web interface speed and slight increase in the number of concurrent IVRs served. In case of PortaSIP on a multi-CPU machine there will be no noticeable increase in the performance if only one virtual SIP instance is used on the server.

cclogo PortaUM concurrent IVR sessions

Porta have successfully tested 150 IVR sessions on a dual-CPU machine and on a dual-core Opteron about 120 concurrent IVR sessions. Porta have, not yet performed tests on the quad-core CPU.

Using multiple PortaUM servers with one PortaBilling platform

As of MR16 you can use multiple PortaUM servers (MR16 will support auto-distribution of the user's mailboxes among the available UM servers). So you can put as many PortaUM servers as you need to process the projected number of concurrent calls.
